The Artist

Troy Schooneman is an Australian artist whose work centres on the male figure and its transformation through image, memory, and time.

Working across photography and constructed imagery, his practice spans more than two decades and returns repeatedly to a consistent set of concerns: beauty, identity, vulnerability, longing, and the ways in which images preserve what life inevitably alters.

The archive unfolds through five interconnected collections. Figures appear as artefacts, as ideals, as individuals, as remembered presences, and finally beside age itself. Although each body of work possesses its own language and chronology, all are united by an interest in what survives through representation and what remains after time has passed.
