Older brings the same face into two moments of a single life. Each work places a man in his youth beside himself in old age, so that the boy he was and the man he became share one frame. Between them lies everything the years have written: the softening of the features, the weathering of the skin, and the persistence of a gaze that time cannot entirely change. Suspended between memory and anticipation, the collection reflects on identity, mortality and what endures of a person across a lifetime.
Following Eternal Youth, Older continues Troy Schooneman's constructed imagery of the male portrait, turning from remembered moments to the passage of time within one face. Each image is made rather than photographed, allowing a single sitter to meet himself across the decades. Each work is available as a limited edition fine art print, hand-signed and numbered.
